Spectre commissioned me to re-think their branding and website. Spectre was founded on the idea that writing is for everyone. I used their ideas to create a brand framework based around professionalism, openness, and equity.
It was an exciting challenge to find a happy medium between classic and modern. The client wanted the literary nature of the site to shine through, but not to feel too old-fashioned. Overall, what we settled on was a clean and modern experience for a user who wants to tell their story to the world.
After exploring visual directions and sketching, my next goal is to create a set of high-quality wireframes. The purpose is to block out space and start thinking about how the information should be displayed. For this project, I choose a half and half design that mimicked the layout of a book. I kept the style very clean and minimal to contrast the elegant serif typeface, and make sure it wasn't feeling too old-fashioned.
After that, I can begin adding color, photographs, and illustrations.
